The Saxon Mountain Guided ATV Tour is the closest and most historic tour from the Rocky Mountain Quad Squad. This mountain offers a mix of Easy and Moderate trails. Highlights of the tour include the Ghost town of Lamartine and its mine,
Molly Brown mine and panoramic views of the Continental Divide and a close-up of Georgetown, Colorado from the peak of Saxon Mountain, which is 11,500ft above sea level. 2 hrs or 1/2 Day.
The Saxon Mountain Trail is a network of old mining roads with significant mining history. These roads are now Jeep and ATV tour roads perfect for a guided ATV tour from the Rocky Mountain Quad Squad. Evidence of the past abounds although not always very visibile. The East portion of this trail goes past the very productive Lamartine Mine and other mines.
The west portion of the trail is a loop that takes you to Saxon Mountain at 11,546ft above sea level and along the way you will pass the Molly Brown Mine, and cabins. This trail system is pretty bumpy and rocky, with some difficult portions, but great on an ATV with full independent suspension!
